NEMA and Mantrad Ltd visit at Comarco Private Port Terminal

06 November 2019

Field visit at Comarco Supply Base (EPZ) Ltd by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Mantrad Ltd.

Comarco was privileged to host, in their private port terminal in Mombasa, the Board Members of NEMA, the National Environment Management Authority), together with Mantrad Limited, a customized solutions provider for part equipment. Comarco Group is one of the first organizations in Kenya to purchase state of the art air quality control and noise monitoring equipment from Mantrad.

NEMA is a Kenyan government agency responsible for the management of the environment, and environmental policy. As Comarco is amongst the forerunners in the installation of the Mantrad equipment, the NEMA Board envisaged the need to make a field visit to the Comarco Terminal to familiarise themselves with this innovative technology, its use, functions and in future to roll out a program to sensitise other industries to adopt this concept.

The field visit was attended by a number of NEMA board members from Nairobi HQ and senior management representatives, including: Hon Agostinho Neto, Hon Halima Wale, Dr. Juma Ngeiywa, Alex Mbuvi , Teresiah Molokwe , Isaac Memusi (Board Members), Rachel Ratemo, Linda C. Kosgei, Moses Mburu, Evans Nyabuto, T. Leonard and Martin Shimba (Senior Management).

This proactive installation initiative is driven by Comarco’s corporate social responsibility towards the environment, its employees and the Liwatoni community at large.

Comarco is pleased to report that measurements reveal that noise and dust levels in the course of its activities are at approximately 10% of the safe working maximum limit.

As a consequence, Comarco has been recognised as “Compliance Assistants” by NEMA Board and looks forward to working closely with NEMA in the future to ensure a better and safer environment.
